„Einführung in die Welt der Gebrüder Grimm: Was Sie nicht wussten, was Sie nicht über Märchen wissen!“
In diesem Workshop am 23. November von 14 bis 16 Uhr erkunden die Teilnehmer die Volks- und Märchen aus dem deutschsprachigen Europa, insbesondere die von den Brüdern Grimm gesammelten. Es wird der Hintergrund dieser Geschichten aus dem 18. und 19. Jahrhundert erläutert und gezeigt, wie sie in verschiedenen Formen weltweit populär geworden sind. Die Teilnehmer werden diese Märchen aus neuen Blickwinkeln betrachten, um zu sehen, wie sie sich im Laufe der Zeit verändert haben, um neue politische, kulturelle und soziale Ideen widerzuspiegeln, und wie neue Technologien ihre Erzählung beeinflusst haben.
Dr. Elizabeth „Biz“ Nijdam ist Assistenzprofessorin für Lehre in der Abteilung für Mittel-, Ost- und Nordeuropastudien an der Universität von British Columbia in Vancouver.

“Introduction to the world of the Brothers Grimm: All the Things You Didn’t Know You Didn’t Know about Fairy Tales!”
In this workshop on Nov 23rd from 2 to 4pm participants will explore the folk and fairy tales from German-speaking Europe, especially those gathered by the Brothers Grimm. It will explain the background of these stories from the 18th and 19th centuries and show how they have become popular worldwide in different forms. Participants will look at these fairy tales from new angles to see how they’ve changed over time to reflect new political, cultural, and social ideas, as well as how new technologies have influenced their storytelling.
Dr. Elizabeth “Biz” Nijdam is an Assistant Professor of Teaching in the Department of Central, Eastern, and Northern European Studies at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver.
